Planning a wedding and wondering what a Nova Scotia elopement looks like? Samantha & Grant’s wedding at Oceanstone Seaside Resort is the perfect example of how beautiful an intimate celebration can be! Every detail was thought of, from the incredible floral installations from Laura at Crocus Designs, local rum from Ironworks and Halifax Distilling Co for toasting, a bowtie for their furry guest Gus, to the gorgeous watercolor place cards for the table.
This was my first wedding of 2021 and I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season! Samantha and Grant are such a sweet and down-to-earth couple, and their relationship has spanned the globe (literally - Grant is Australian). Sam’s parents served as the witnesses for their ceremony as well as the only guests at their elopement, which was livestreamed for the family and friends who couldn’t attend.
After the ceremony, Sam’s dad did a lovely toast to the newlyweds and we got to spend some time down at the beach for photos - we also snuck out later in the evening to catch the sunset, scroll to the end to see how those turned out! For the reception, the just-married couple was surprised by tequila shots sent from faraway family members before hitting the dance floor for their first dance to an acoustic version of “Shut Up And Dance” by Walk the Moon.
What I love most about micro weddings and elopements is the pace of the day. You can still incorporate many of the things that you might typically see at a larger wedding, like a first look (how sweet is theirs?!), first dances and champagne toasts; but overall, the day moves at a slower pace and allows you to truly enjoy every moment of your wedding without rushing. I loved being a part of this celebration!
